that's awesome. i hated boy bands in the nineties, but almost a decade out, i'm strangely nostalgic for this music.

on one hand, shoot me. on the other...i would love to see how this show plays out, and am curious to see if this show turns up on TV or YouTube.

I think NKOTB and New Edition are old enough to have that kitsch-appeal. The others are just terrible. Whose choice was this? Who do we boo on Saturday?

I was told that "the students" asked for this one. Given that the era of boy bands extends back to the late '90's, this qualifies as the music of their childhood for people who were born in 1990. Which is kind of depressing.

Define "terrible." Songs that you got annoyed by when they came on the radio? Sure! It's a boy band show catering to the students who grew up listening to this music whether they liked it or not. It's meant to appeal to that "strangely nostalgic" mood. The song choices are perfect for that (though if he wanted to cover the whole spectrum of Boy Bands, it's missing some All-4-One and Boyz II Men).

I'm comfortable admitting that I'm really excited for this show and I think it's going to be the best Boerma's done.

The shows they have done this far are waaaay better than the shows we were subjected to last year. Give me bad songs with a sense of irony in boy bands than Bobby Darrin with a demented sense of over-importance any day. They still need to play louder, and for god's sake, play 'Reaper' towards the student section. You could at least hear Respect. All I heard Saturday was off-time cowbell and the increasing uncomfortableness of the poor flags forced to play them essentially unaccompanied.

Yes, Jeremy, this show could be great, but it's not going to make a difference if you can't hear it. You couldn't hear a note of pregame on Saturday, much less about 75% of the halftime show. And now I know why every non-band person I ever talked to about band last year said "Um, so, why can't we hear you guys anymore?"

Quoth the Cavender, "More damn sound!"
