Hail To The Victors Valiant

Photo from MGoBlue.com

What a fantastic way to send off Lloyd Carr, Jake Long, Chad Henne, Mike Hart, and all the other seniors, and what a weird game. The offensive might we'd been expecting all year was on full display, with Adrian Arrington having a monster game and Mario Manningham showing off his speed with a flurry of end-arounds. Mike Hart showed that he's human, losing two fumbles on the goal line, but he also ran for one touchdown and 129 yards on 32 carries. On special teams, Michigan was the team blocking a field goal for once, and we recovered an impromptu onside kick when Florida declined to field the second half kickoff. The offense gave the ball away 4 times and the defense got zero takeaways, but the team came out of it winning the only battle that matters, the one that reads 41-35. As a swan song for the Carr era, this was tremendous. Thanks, Lloyd.

What was most impressive to me was Michigan settling for the late-game field goal to put the burden on the defense to stop Florida one more time ... and they continued to put the pressure on Tebow. I think we saw some glimpses of what the future Michigan team may look like today ... the more wide-open offense and the attacking defense may be an indication of what we're in for next year ... and I'm looking forward to it! Go Blue!
