The simple fact that UF played one more additional opponent who happened to be in the top 10 added to the allure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35971090.post-1165350783308224432006-12-05T15:33:00.000-05:002006-12-05T15:33:00.000-05:00maybe meyer's campaigning did or did not cause swa...maybe meyer's campaigning did or did not cause sway among the voters, but you have to admit, at the very least, it was the intent. he didn't just say, "hey, we'll let the system play itself out," as carr did. rather, he said, "Florida plays in the toughest conference! Florida deserves a shot! Michigan didn't even win their conference! A rematch is bad for college football!" incidentally, those are the same reasons the voters gave for bumping Florida above Michigan in the final poll. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

Rather than comparing football to basketball, let's keep it within the football arena. An SEC East team could run the table save for a loss against an undefeated SEC West opponent in the regular season. But, they meet again in the conference championship game with teh SEC East team winning. Identical overall and head-to-head matchups, but one is champion and one is not. I call hypocrisy on the entire system. Hiss. How are you...Correlation does not equal causation. How are you so certain that Meyer's "campaigning" led to the Gators' elevation to the #2 spot? I've heard many a voter in both polls give various reasons, but none of them said "it was because Urban Meyer was so damned persuasive".

It's amazing the urge to create a villain out of Meyer on the part of the Michigan people when the real enemy is the BCS itself.Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09686774590181054257noreply@blogger.com
